More new street lighting is now being installed in Bearwood in the latest phase to both renew old columns and provide for much better illumination of the streets making them safer at night. Thimblemill Road is the latest to benefit. Other roads already completed in previous phases include
Bearwood Road, Three Shires Oak Road, Abbey Road, Lightwoods Hill and all the roads between Bearwood Road and Barclay. Also more recently completed have been Poplar Road, Anderson Road and Drayton Road along with Merrivale Road

New and better street lighting has been proven to be an effective method of improving community safety in the hours of darkness as well as improving driving conditions and is part of our commitment to a safer Bearwood.

New garden waste bins are now being delivered in readiness for the new service to start in April. This service has already proved to be very popular with Bearwood residents in the roads that have been included in a pilot scheme. Now, every household that wants to send their garden waste to compost will receive the service.  Overall, 86,000 bins are being delivered to households across Sandwell for the new service and will be delivered between now and March. Everyone will receive a calendar in March giving details of the dates for the fortnightly collection.
